GIS MODELING SEMINARS

“GIS technology is more different than it is similar to traditional mapping”

This set of Instructor Resources is designed for short presentations on concepts, procedures and considerations in GIS modeling and analysis.  The one-hour General Seminar presentation provides an overview of spatial statistics and analysis.  The three-hour workshops on Surface Modeling and Spatial Analysis provide a basic introduction to the topics, as well as limited hands-on experience.

General Seminar on Grid-Based Map Analysis and Modeling   Spatial Reasoning (thinking with maps) involves a wealth of analysis tools used to characterize spatial relationships, processes and interactions.  The tools derive new maps based on spatial context, patterns, surface configuration, proximity, connectivity and flows.  This one-hour presentation discusses and demonstrates many of grid-based analytical tools used in GIS modeling… applications that move well-beyond desktop mapping.   (Detailed description, Word .doc file)
